Life, New Year, and the Word that Awakens.
A very special, wise, loving woman came into my life back in 2007 – Margaret. She taught me the value of Truth, Love, Compassion, Service, and Human Connection. She convinced me that I was strong enough to achieve any goal that I set my mind to. She taught me the value of identifying my deepest desires, naming them, and taking actions that would cultivate a life of true meaning.
Each December, Margaret would encourage me to choose a word that summarized my deepest desires for the upcoming year. This word encompasses so much more than professional, physical, and financial goals. This word is to represent your readiness for a certain type of spiritual growth. This word is inspired by past struggles and represents a new level of Awakening that you foresee in the upcoming year. This word is not chosen but will come to you on an intuitive level.
“Grounded” was my word in a year past. After over and over allowing others to quiet my voice and distract me from my truth – I knew that it was time for me to remain grounded and strong in my own life experience. I was ready to show up fully as me, owning my truth, and using the Voice I had been given. This word also represented a lifelong struggle with anxiety and my readiness to remain present in my experience and not be swept away by anxious energy.
In full disclosure, I must tell you that after choosing a word you should be prepared for opportunities to practice your new way of showing up in this world. In my year of Grounded, I was presented with anxiety triggering circumstances in which I chose to pause and practice a new way of responding. I was given opportunities to speak my truth and make a choice to not shrink down for the sake of another’s comfort.
Let your word be a word of meaning. Let it be a word that when spoken your soul hears it. Let it be a word that your heart longs to speak. Let 2019 be a year of Awakening, a year of walking a little closer to the True You, walking a little closer to your Spiritual Truth.
I invite you to hear, name, and live your word.
