Lessons of Discomfort

Anxiety and depression are rooted in past hurts and perpetuated by an inability to sit with and work through tough emotions.

Anxiety is a coping mechanism. It is a way to feel in control and on guard. This makes sense considering most of us were taught early on that this life is not safe.

Depression is a natural reaction to deep feelings of sadness, loss, pain, and rejection. These are feelings that we try hard to avoid. Avoidance manifests in many ways – procrastination, zoning out on electronics, overeating, substance abuse … we each can add our personal flavor to the list.

Freedom comes when we make the choice to face both our past and our present.

Peace is a direct result of conscious living.

How do you suffer? Are there areas of your life calling your attention. The way out is one small step and then another.

Look within, ask yourself what it is that you need … and take the step. Life is sweet … if that does not feel true for you, now is the time for action.

You are enough. You are worth it. You are not broken. You deserve to taste the sweetness this life has to offer.
